My eyes are on the larger size, and I always felt that using a black or dark brown liner along the bottom lash line looked odd. However, my relationship with eyeliner changed, once I learned how to use it in a way that worked for my eye shape. Thanks to best friend Courtney and the extra hour of time we had before class started every morning in highschool, I discovered how fun makeup could be. Those were great times. We had a lot of makeup fails, but this one was a solid win.
These days, Tarte Cosmetics is making this trick a trend - and they have recently come out with a whole line of colors designed specifically for your waterline (aka rim). You can use any eyeliner, but since it is on your waterline, many regular eyeliners will wash off quite fast.
Below are my favorite ways to use the colors black, nude & white, according to what kind of look you would like to achieve:
For larger eyes, lining with deeper colors will close your eye in a bit more, as not to make your eyes look overly large. This look is ideal for larger, round eyes.
For smaller eyes, (or tired eyes that need widening!) line with a brightening (white/nude) rim liner, and this will widen your gaze.
Although there are specific eyeliners made specifically for the rim, I really love using BareEscentuals *Around The Clock* in a variety of colors. It is just a typical eyeliner, but it has the best wear of any Cruelty-Free, Paraben-Free, etc. eyeliner that I have tried. The Tarte Brightner is fun as well, as it adds a nude glow to your inner rim - & I have yet to find this color in anther brand, but if you happen to come across one- I would love to know. :)
