The healing time for all eyebrow & eyeliner applications is 7-10 days. During this time you can expect:
1. To feel like the color is too dark.
Feeling a bit like a clown is typical, especially during the first 3 days. This is because the color is sitting on top of the skin, but once healed into the skin will result in a much softer, less pronounced coloring. This can be a very intimidating time, and will often leave you feeling worried that perhaps it really just is "too dark". Rest assured that in the arms of a professionally trained technician, you are most likely just experiencing what we all do during this time!
2. To experience mild itching.
As with all tattoos, itching is completely normal around the 4-6th day, as the tattoo is healing & the skin is forming a scab. It is recommended to simply keep following your aftercare regimen, which implies using your aftercare ointment to moisturize the area. Keeping the area moist will definitely help the itching subside. You can also gently "tap" the area to relieve some itching. It is highly important that at no time you scratch or aggressively tap the area, as this will cause a disturbance in your healing.
3. To notice mild swelling.
Mild swelling is common, especially with eyeliner applications. In the most extreme cases, the swelling will go down completely within 72 hours. In most cases the swelling simply looks like you have had a good cry, and will go down within 24 hours. It is important to note that everyone is different, and will react at different levels of sensitivity.
4. Your cosmetic tattoo lines may shrink or "fall out".
During the healing process, it can be common on the first application for lines to "fall out" or to shrink smaller than desired. This is completely normal & can be easily reinforced at your touch up appointment.
Within 10 days you will see the result of your new permanent makeup application! You can expect the color to lighten very slightly over the course of the next few weeks as the skin continues to rebuild itself. 8-12 weeks after your application you skin is officially fully healed, and you may schedule your touch up application to perfect the applications. The touch up will give you the opportunity to darken the color, if desired, or fix lines that have come out during the first application.
